Multiuniversum Project: Cthulhu is an expansion to Multiuniversum. A portal to R’lyeh has been opened and now some awfully nasty stuff comes through. It comes with a new set of portals to replace the original ones as well as new mechanics that add new risks to the game.

Swapping in the new portal tiles completely changes how the base game plays, and those Cthulhu cards bring a genuinely creepy vibe to the table. Played it with three people last weekend and we didn't touch the original portals once.
I expected an expansion to just bolt on more cards, but the R'lyeh portal actually forces you to rethink your whole route instead of just piling on points. The new portal tiles fit the original board without any fuss, and setup barely took longer.
The new portal set completely changes how you plan your turns, and the R'lyeh portal cards add a nice layer of dread to every round. Already my group refuses to play base Multiuniversum without it, the nasty stuff coming through keeps everyone on edge.
