Durante siglos, los ciudadanos del Reino de las Magdalenas han vivido en paz en una utopía de postres deliciosos. Han convivido junto a una fauna fantástica, criaturas con un anhelo cavernoso por las mejores magdalenas. Usando dulces con la mezcla perfecta de azúcar, especias y todo lo bueno para cada especie, los entrenadores de monstruos se hacen amigos y domestican a estas bestias salvajes. Pero si les das demasiadas magdalenas de una vez, no obtendrán el subidón de azúcar que anhelan... ¡sino un terrible dolor de tripa!","t1":"En Criaturas y Magdalenas, los entrenadores de monstruos compiten por domesticar a dos criaturas mágicas para mostrárselas al Rey y a la Reina de las Magdalenas. El entrenador que lo consiga primero gana.","t2":"En este juego de tentar a la suerte, los jugadores sacan magdalenas de una bolsa. Cada magdalena que sacas te hace avanzar una casilla en el camino de afecto de cada criatura. Sin embargo, si sacas dos iguales seguidas, tu turno termina inmediatamente. Incluso fallar tiene sus dulces recompensas, ya que ese jugador obtendrá una carta de poder especial con un efecto de un solo uso o una carta de medicina para ayudar a evitar que ese monstruo coma en exceso la próxima vez."}

In Creatures and Cupcakes, monster trainers compete to tame two magical creatures to show off to the Cupcake King and Cupcake Queen. The trainer who does this first wins.

In this press-your-luck game, players pull cupcakes out of a bag. Every cupcake you draw advances you a space on each creature’s affection track. However, if you draw two of the same in a row, your turn ends immediately. Even going bust has its sweet rewards as that player will get either a special power card with a one-time effect or a medicine card to help keep that monster from overeating next time.

Benjamin ★★★★★

The cupcake kingdom setting is genuinely charming, and I loved how the dessert utopia gets turned upside down by creatures with a cavernous craving. My kid asks for one more chapter every single night now.

The worldbuilding in this one is so charming—a dessert utopia with hungry creatures feels like a story my nephew will actually remember. It’s the kind of thing that sparks good questions at bedtime, and the pages held his attention from start to finish.

Sofia ★★★★★

My kids have been begging for bedtime stories every night since this arrived—the whole fantasy of a dessert kingdom with hungry creatures really sparks their imaginations. The hardcover feels sturdy enough to survive their enthusiastic page-turning, which is a win in my book.
