How to Set Up Deception: Theme Pack – Korea

Quick Answer

To set up the Deception: Theme Pack – Korea, simply shuffle the five promo cards into their respective decks from the base game—three means cards and two clue cards—and play as normal. Note that the secondary language on these cards is Korean instead of Chinese.

Setup Steps

1. Separate the Cards: Open the Deception: Theme Pack – Korea and divide the five cards into two piles: the three means cards (Angry Lion, Dolhareubang Ignition, Coal) and the two clue cards (Damaged Investigator Card, Italian Towel). Double-check that you have exactly three means and two clue cards before proceeding.
2. Shuffle into the Means Deck: Take the three means cards and shuffle them into the means deck from the base game of Deception: Murder in Hong Kong. Ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the deck. If you are playing with other expansions, shuffle all means promo cards together to avoid clumping.
3. Shuffle into the Clue Deck: Take the two clue cards and shuffle them into the clue deck from the base game. Again, mix them thoroughly so they are not all drawn at once. Do not add these cards to the role or scene decks—they belong only in the means and clue decks.
4. Play as Normal: Proceed with your standard Deception: Murder in Hong Kong rules. The new cards are used exactly like the base game cards. The Korean text on the cards does not change any game mechanics. If a player is unfamiliar with the new cards, briefly explain their names and effects before the first round.
